2026 Mid-Year Impact at a Glance

When our supporters gathered at A Night to Empower on March 7, 2026, at Bistro Del Lago in Evergreen, Colorado, they invested in more than a fundraiser.

They invested in children.

That evening, Speakers for Africa made a promise: every dollar entrusted to our organization would be transformed into meaningful improvements for children in Uganda through clean water, sanitation, school infrastructure, and education.

Today, we are proud to say we have fulfilled that promise—and accomplished even more than we anticipated.

During the first half of 2026, the generosity of those who believed in us helped us improve two partner schools, provide reliable access to clean water, restore sanitation facilities, deliver educational resources, and create healthier learning environments for hundreds of students.

Every project in this report exists because people believed that every child deserves the opportunity to learn.

Improving Schools Across Uganda

At Speakers for Africa, we believe every child deserves more than a classroom—they deserve a safe, healthy, and dignified place to learn.

Our mission extends beyond providing books and school supplies. We focus on removing the barriers that prevent children from receiving an education in the first place.

Every project begins with one simple question:

What is preventing children from learning?

When we discovered that students were spending their mornings collecting water instead of attending class, and that some children had no choice but to use nearby bushes as school bathrooms, we realized these weren't simply infrastructure problems—they were barriers to education. At Speakers for Africa, we believe education begins long before a child opens a textbook. It begins with clean water, safe sanitation, and healthy learning environments. By removing these barriers first, we create the foundation that allows children to attend school, stay healthy, and thrive in the classroom.

N'Shaara Parents' Primary School

In March 2026, our team returned to N'Shaara Parents' Primary School in Rwakobo to build upon the sanitation project we completed the previous year.

Rather than considering a project finished once construction ends, we believe lasting change requires long-term partnership.

During our visit we expanded the boys' urinal, performed annual maintenance on the four-stance pit latrine, restored WASH handwashing stations, distributed sanitation supplies, and evaluated the project to ensure it continues serving students effectively.

Before this project, many students had no choice but to use nearby bushes because the school lacked adequate restroom facilities. Today, the school has experienced approximately a 30% increase in attendance, demonstrating how safe sanitation directly improves educational outcomes.

For us, sanitation is about far more than construction—it is about restoring dignity, protecting health, and helping children stay in school.

Delivering Clean Water to Exodus Nursery & Primary School

In April 2026, our team installed a complete rainwater harvesting system, new gutters and downspouts, completed roof repairs, and connected a new 2,000-liter water storage tank.

Today, rainwater is collected directly from the school's roof, providing reliable access to clean water and allowing students to spend more time learning instead of collecting water.

While working at Exodus, we also discovered that the school's septic system had failed and was overflowing.

We repaired the septic system, renovated the boys' and girls' restrooms, installed improved sanitation fixtures, and restored safe, dignified facilities for students and staff.

To ensure these improvements create lasting impact, we also installed handwashing stations, distributed soap, provided Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) education, supplied female hygiene products, and delivered scholastic materials to support classroom learning.

Education Begins Before the Classroom

Many people believe education begins when a child opens a textbook.

We believe it begins much earlier.

Education begins when children have access to clean drinking water.

It begins when they have safe and dignified sanitation facilities.

It begins when preventable illness no longer keeps them home from school.

It begins when teachers can start class on time instead of waiting for students to collect water.

It begins when classrooms remain dry during the rainy season.

These are not separate issues from education—they are the foundation upon which education depends.

That belief guides every project we undertake. Before we invest in classrooms, we work to remove the barriers that prevent children from learning in the first place. By improving water, sanitation, hygiene, and school infrastructure, we create the conditions that allow students to learn, teachers to teach, and communities to thrive.

Accountability to Our Donors

Every dollar entrusted to Speakers for Africa carries a responsibility.

Our donors deserve transparency. They deserve measurable results. Most importantly, they deserve to see the impact of their generosity.

That is why we document every project through photographs, progress updates, and impact reports like this one. We believe accountability builds trust, and when we make a promise, we believe we should be able to demonstrate exactly how it was fulfilled.

The projects highlighted in this report represent more than completed construction—they represent healthier schools, stronger communities, and brighter futures made possible by people who chose to invest in children they may never meet.

Our Next Goal: Restoring the Exodus School Roof

Currently, we have started a new project.

Our current priority is restoring the roof shared by Exodus Nursery & Primary School and Bible Proof International Church.

Like many schools in Uganda, the school and church share one building and serve the same community. During the week, the building is filled with students learning. On Sundays, it becomes a place of worship and a gathering place for local families.

Years of heavy rain have damaged the roof, allowing water to enter classrooms and interrupt learning. Restoring the roof will protect students, preserve an important community resource, and ensure children can continue learning in a safe, dry environment.

This project is the next step in our mission to remove barriers to education, and with your support, we look forward to completing it before the next rainy season.

Looking Ahead

The work highlighted in this report is only the beginning.

As Speakers for Africa continues to grow, we remain committed to expanding access to clean water, improving sanitation, strengthening school infrastructure, and providing educational resources where they are needed most.

Working alongside local leaders, teachers, parents, and community partners, we will continue building sustainable solutions that create lasting opportunities for children across Uganda.

Every completed project brings us one step closer to a future where every child has the opportunity to learn in a safe, healthy, and supportive environment.
