Join us Saturday, August 31st at 6:30 PM at Cactus Jack's in Evergreen for a fundraiser to help build better classrooms in Uganda. Over the past few years, Speakers for Africa has raised about $9,950 for the Uganda Youth Aid Nursery and Primary School in Kampala, Uganda. We have provided food (maize flour, livestock, agriculture programs), school fees (for some juniors and seniors to graduate high school or as incentive programs), laptops and tablets, other school supplies, and two soccer clubs (for the boys and girls). The students and faculty have utilized the tools we have provided and continue to impress us with their hard work. The Uganda Youth Aid School is a good investment.
Next, we need to help them in building their remaining permanent structure. Two-thirds of the school have permanent structures, but the younger students still have to use a building that is barely standing. The roof is leaking and the walls are made from decaying wood.
Through working with the school's engineers and engineers of our own, we estimate the cost of such a project to be about $15,000. Our goal is feasible. Thanks to our generous donors, we have been able to do a lot for these kids. Please help us to do more.
Please join us for a night of live music, African cuisine, art and presentations. We will also have a silent auction.
Eventually, it is our dream to build for them a computer lab. You can watch in real time as we complete these projects. We encourage direct transparency and through live stream, donors can see exactly where their money is going and how it is being used.
Thank you,
Peyton Thomas (Executive Director)
