Who We Are
Speakers for Africa is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit partnering with communities in Uganda to strengthen schools and expand opportunities for vulnerable students. With more than 25 years of trusted relationships in the region and leadership equally based between Uganda and the United States, we deliver community-driven solutions rooted in local insight and supported by global resources. We go beyond support—we amplify student voices, giving them the platform to be heard and the opportunity to truly Speak for Africa.

Providing Measurable Impact to Vulnerable Students in Uganda Since 2020

What It Means to
Be a Speaker for Africa?
Advocacy in action—empowering Ugandan students to find their voice, overcome barriers to education, and lead their future.
WHY
WE’RE
DIFFERENT
Community-led solutions
Transparent, real-time reporting
Student advocacy at the core
We don’t speak for Africa—we amplify student voices. By working directly with local communities, we identify real barriers to education and implement practical solutions. Through transparency and real-time updates, supporters see exactly how their impact helps students stay in school and advocate for their future.
Barriers to Education Are Real—
But So Is the Impact
Many students in Uganda want an education but face daily barriers like unsafe sanitation, hunger, and overcrowded classrooms. Your support removes barriers like poor sanitation and limited resources—empowering students in Uganda to stay in school, advocate for themselves, and build their future.

DEFICIENT SANITATION: UNUSABLE SCHOOL BATHROOMS
Poor sanitation in rural Uganda forces students to use nearby bushes instead of safe toilets. This lack of dignified facilities increases disease risk and causes frequent school absence.

Students at Rwakobo Primary School in rural Uganda now attend school with dignity and safety. Clean facilities protect their health and restore hope for the future.

Student-led Gardening
and Sustainability Programs

Today, student-led garden programs help children grow their own food while building confidence, life skills, and improving school attendance.

BROKEN SCHOOL INFRASTRUCTURE: UNSAFE CLASSROOMS AND KITCHEN
Overcrowded classrooms and unsafe kitchen facilities limit effective learning. Inadequate infrastructure makes it difficult for schools to provide daily meals and provide a safe learning environment.

In under two weeks, repairs transformed the school kitchen into a safer space for daily meals and learning. Students now benefit from a renovated kitchen, new plates and bowls, and handwashing stations.

WASH and Education
Lack of clean water, proper sanitation and hygiene is a major barrier to education.
When students lack safe toilets or access to basic menstrual products, attending school becomes difficult and inconsistent. Addressing these challenges is essential to ensuring every child has the opportunity to learn in a safe, dignified environment.
SANITATION = EDUCATION
Barriers to education are widespread in Uganda, with inadequate sanitation standing as one of the most critical challenges facing students today.
In 2024, we responded by constructing a four-stance pit latrine built to serve students for over 20 years.
In just one year, student attendance increased by 30%—a clear example of how improving sanitation directly strengthens education.
